Spring is a time of transformation, and what better way to kick off this new season than to discover some of Detroit’s most beloved attractions?. From walks along the Detroit River to bike rides down old railroad lines, Detroit is full of life. Continue reading below to discover some of the best things to do (and places to park) in Detroit this spring.
Shop at Eastern Market
Eastern Market has been attracting visitors from all over the country for the last 125 years. It was recently named the 3rd best public market in the USA! This uniquely Detroit attraction is not your average farmer’s market. Over 225 vendors featuring produce, art, food, and live music line six blocks of warehouses. Mark your calendar for Flower Day on May 15th to shop a vast inventory of locally grown blooms.
Avoid the congestion at Eastern Market by parking at 150 Michigan Avenue and taking the bus from the nearby Rosa Parks Transit Center.
Bike the Dequindre Cut
Bike lovers can welcome spring in the Motor City on two wheels instead of four. The Dequindre Cut is a two-mile paved trail that was once the Grand Trunk Railroad Line. The scenic path winds along the Detroit River, green spaces, and past some of the most impressive street art in this – or any – city. Stop by the Dequindre Cut Freight Yard for drinks and live entertainment!
Park at 155 W Congress Street and bike to the Riverwalk!
Catch a game at Comerica Park
It wouldn’t be spring without taking in a ballgame at Comerica Park. The state-of-the-art stadium has so much to offer! Enjoy a carousel ride on hand-painted tigers, a 50-foot Ferris wheel, and a fireworks display every Friday night! Eating and drinking options abound at the Big Cat Food Court and four sit-down restaurants within the stadium.
Park at the 440 Madison Street lot to be walkable to Comerica Park!
Take in views of the Detroit River
A relaxing RiverWalk stroll is a must-do while in Detroit. The RiverWalk spans over three miles of Detroit River frontage and runs from Rosa Parks Boulevard to the Belle Isle Bridge. You will find popular eateries, fountains, a splash park, a lighthouse, and even a carousel along the paved path!
Park at 621 1st Street to grab lunch at Tommy’s Bar & Grill before hitting the RiverWalk!
